"Change for Haiti" $1229.79 collected
 
Our school rallied together to collect $1229.79 to donate to help people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. All funds will be donated to the American Red Cross. For more information and further donations, please contact the school at (623) 974-4959.

Checking in on 2nd Grade "Dear Mr. Blueberry" was an informational text we read in January. When Emily finds a whale in her backyard pond, it starts a correspondence about whales between her and her teacher, Mr. Blueberry. In our classroom we asked "Just how long is a whale?" So we estimated. Then found a book in our library that told us that a blue whale is 100 feet long. Then we asked "How long is 100 feet?" We know that 12 inches makes 1 foot so we went outside, cut 100 pieces of string into 1 foot, and then we tied them together to SEE exactly how long was 100 feet. WOW! That is long! -2nd Grade Class
