Welcome back to an exciting 2010-2011 school year!  The Arizona Charter Academy staff hopes that you are getting some rest, relaxation and enjoying your vacation time. We have just wrapped up a very successful and fun summer school and sports camp. This is an event we hope will continue to grow in the upcoming years at ACA, so keep it in your thoughts for next year.

Please read through our summer packet because it is full of information to assist you with starting off to a great 2010-2011 school year.  The staff is excited to see the returning students and welcome our new students.  ACA is ready for a year striving towards purpose, character and excellence in education.  We will be setting aside the weeks of July 21st  to August  6th   for returning families and new elementary families to come in to the offices anytime between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with their required paperwork. Uniforms will be available for purchase at this time as well. We will do our traditional Back to School Night on August 26^th after students have been in class for a few weeks. All Kindergarten students as well as Jr. High and High School will still have Orientations. Please refer to the flyer in this packet for times and locations.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you completely and accurately fill out each of your child’s emergency cards and bring them in with your paperwork. Your family registration packet has included a form that lists any additional paperwork that is missing from our files. Please be sure to provide these as well.

Check out our website at www.arizonacharteracademy.com for updates on back- to- school events including our Backpack Giveway on July 31^st at 10:00am. Your child’s teachers have posted their welcome back letters on their class web pages, which are located in the elementary and Jr. High areas of the website and will be used to communicate to parents throughout the year. Also, as part of our continued efforts to reduce waste, Student Handbooks will be available on the website and in paper only by request.

Here’s a few things to help your child hit the ground running in August:

• READ, READ, READ! Visit the Surprise Library once a week or take a trip to Barnes and Noble. Jr. High and High School students can jump into our summer reading blogs on our website! Choose a book and get started posting in dialogues lead by the ACA staff.
• Use Math in Everyday Life! When you're shopping, take your child along and have them keep a running total of purchases; give them a spending limit and have them estimate how much you still have left to spend as you shop. No matter how average or adventurous, adults use math every day. Give children the opportunity to flex their math muscles during the summer, too.
